1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using overpaid.fyi (“the Tool”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Tool.
2. Description of Service
overpaid.fyi is a free, client-side tool that parses Fidelity 1099-B PDFs to calculate corrected cost basis for ESPP and RSU transactions. All processing occurs entirely within your web browser. No data is uploaded to or stored on any server.
3. Not Tax Advice
The Tool is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute tax, financial, or legal advice. The output of this Tool should not be relied upon as a substitute for consultation with a qualified tax professional. Always verify results with your tax advisor before filing or amending any tax return.
4. No Warranty of Accuracy
The Tool is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Tool will produce accurate, complete, or error-free results. Results may contain errors. You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy of any output before using it for tax filing purposes.
5. Assumption of Risk
You assume all risk associated with your use of the Tool and its output. You are solely responsible for any decisions made or actions taken based on the information provided by the Tool, including but not limited to filing or amending tax returns.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, overpaid.fyi and its creators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Tool, including but not limited to financial losses, tax penalties, interest charges, or any other damages resulting from errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in the Tool's output.
7. Modifications
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Tool at any time without notice. We may also update these Terms of Service from time to time. Continued use of the Tool after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
8. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
